David is a Lancashire Artist working from his home in Smithy Bridge, Rochdale. He is self taught and has developed an unconventional and unique style of painting watercolours. He is particularly drawn to the sharp contrast of light and shadow and endeavours to reproduce these qualities to create paintings full of atmosphere and rich in detail. This unusual approach is most evident in David's popular jazz scenes which were first sparked when a relative who is a keen musician commissioned him to undertake a painting of Charlie Parker.Working from black and white prints, David reworks these images in his own sepia style to create stunning and detailed images that perfectly capture the jazz club atmosphere.
