The Bebop Shop : Jazz Gallery : David Ainsworth

David is a Lancashire Artist working from his home in Smithy Bridge, Rochdale. He is self taught and has developed an unconventional and unique style of painting watercolours. He is particularly drawn to the sharp contrast of light and shadow and endeavours to reproduce these qualities to create paintings full of atmosphere and rich in detail. This unusual approach is most evident in David's popular jazz scenes which were first sparked when a relative who is a keen musician commissioned him to undertake a painting of Charlie Parker.

Working from black and white prints, David reworks these images in his own sepia style to create stunning and detailed images that perfectly capture the jazz club atmosphere.

These are Gallery quality Limited Edition Giclee prints produced on 330 gsm acid - free heavy watercolour style paper with pigmented inks to avoid fading. They are designed to match the texture and finish of the original artwork and have a matt finish with a white border. Each of the two issues is limited to a maximum number of 200 prints and each copy is signed and numbered by the artist David Ainsworth.

Kind permission has been obtained to base the artwork on photographs from the Gottlieb Collection - © 1979 William P. Gottlieb.
