Chicago-born Lee Konitz is a rarity amongst alto saxophonists of his generation in that he chose to follow a path that didn't derive inspiration from Charlie Parker. A great 4 CD Box Set, featuring amazing sessions recorded by two Lennie Tristano ‘pupils’ : Warne Marsh and Lee Konitz - recorded in 1975.December 1975 was a busy month for both of them. It was Warne Marsh’s first visit to Europe. They played December 3,4 & 5 at the Montmartre club in Copenhagen and came back on the 27th and played yet another concert there. They were at Rosenberg studio December 28 and 29 for further recordings. All dates were recorded and the result can be heard on this 4 CD box. They were accompanied by the Danish musicians Ole Kock Hansen (p) Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen (b) and Alex Riel (dr) and for the later sessions with Dave Cliff (g) Peter Ind (b) and Alan Lewitt (dr).
