Red Norvo's 1945 record date for Comet has been acclaimed by critics as one of the super sessions of discography. It was a true all-star affair, combining the diverse talents of six musicians then, or about to be included among the jazz elite- Norvo, Teddy Wilson and Slam Stewart- each an established swing star, and three younger men, unknown at the time, all of them controversial- Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Flip Phillips.
